Bilingual Translator (English to French)
Part-time / Permanent
Location : Remote (can live anywhere in Canada)
Hours : Mon-Fri between work hours : EST : 8 : 30am- 5pm (21-30 hours / week)
Salary : $35-48 / hr.

Description :
The Translator plays a vital role in the companies’ communications efforts by ensuring the
professionalism and clarity of the organization’s official French language communications and
internal documentation. The Translator will provide translation, revision, and proofreading of
general documents as well as specialized, more complex documents. The Translator will
conduct research, establish, and maintain terminology and internal lexicons while collaborating
with other departments on translation projects.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Translate a variety of texts intended for consumers, stakeholders, member firms and the public such as news releases, web pages, marketing material, technical reports, annual reports, template letters, case summaries and precedent documents from English to French with minimal supervision and within the established timelines.
- Revise texts translated by external translators with minimal supervision and within the established timelines.
- Proofread the French version of documents to be published and / or posted on the website and social media sites.
- Establish French terminology and create a terminology records database.
- Develop and maintain internal lexicons and leverage computer assisted translation tools to ensure efficiency and consistency of translation work.
- Liaise with internal clients including Knowledge Management, Investigations and Corporate Communications in addition to external service providers.
- Participate in the selection and support ongoing efforts to ensure quality and cost effectiveness of external translation vendors.
- Act as a corporate resource for questions related to translation.
Key Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation
- Certification from a recognized translators’ association is an asset (OTTIAQ, ATIO, CTINB).
- Complete fluency in French and English (written and oral).
- Minimum five years translation and revision experience
- Superior organizational skills along with an attention to detail.
- Intellectual curiosity and excellent judgment.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Strong ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
