Description de postePursuing post-secondary education in Nursing or related field Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C, CPR-BLS (HCP) preferred. Current and clear Drivers Abstract and G license an asset. Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check. Self-directed & motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, patience and empathy. Experience working with people with vision loss, deaf-blind and / or special needs is an asset. Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment and work outside for extended period of time. Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff members if required. Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset. Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and / or accessible environments is considered an asset. This position may require the ability to work occasional overtime / flex time. This position may have to deal with challenging situations and / or people. Ability to work flexible hours in a dynamic and busy environment, with frequent interruptions. Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff member.

Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada’s oldest charities. For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Nursing Assistantto help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for ‘kids of all ages’ with sight loss, and their families!
Your Impact at CNIB
- Support the Camp Nurse in the execution of the healthcare plan and strategy.
- Provide complete first-aid services to all guests, volunteers and staff, and document all first-aid that is provided
- Under the guidance of the Camp Nurse, support guests with medication administration, as needed.
- Assist with documentation and filing of medical records and personal information in adherence to Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and other applicable privacy laws and policies.
- Maintain, keep record and ensure that all first-aid kits are stocked and in place around site, in vehicles and with staff.
- Ensure all dietary needs for guests are communicated to the kitchen two weeks in advance; coordinate all special diets with the kitchen team.
- On a rotational basis, be on call for emergencies, which includes being present on site and able to respond to emergencies.
- Promote health and safety practices which include sun and heat safety measures, including that there are water / hydration stations for guests and staff throughout the day.
