Posting Number : 03-2025 Closing Date : March 13, 2025 Status : Temporary Full-time for up to one (1) year with the possibility of extension Hours of Work : 80 hours bi-weekly Salary : $72, 800 to $87,360 annually Position Summary : The Clinical Educator / Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering training programs that support the professional development and skill enhancement of staff at Sherwood Park Manor. This role ensures that all team members are well-equipped to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to residents, in alignment with regulatory standards, best practices, and the home's mission and values. The Clinical Educator / Training Specialist plays a key role in creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement, fostering a positive, collaborative work environment to enhance resident care. Key Responsibilities : Staff Training and Development Design and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires, including orientation and onboarding for all staff. Deliver ongoing in-service training sessions to maintain and enhance staff competencies, focusing on areas such as infection control, resident-centered care, and emergency preparedness. Collaborate with department heads to identify specific training needs and create tailored learning solutions to address skill gaps. Stay current with best practices in long-term care and integrate evidence-based practices into training content. Curriculum and Program Development Develop, update, and maintain training materials, manuals, and e-learning modules in alignment with current regulations, policies, and practices. Incorporate interactive and engaging training methods, including hands-on workshops, simulations, and digital learning tools, to enhance learning outcomes. Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, evaluations, and performance assessments, continuously improving materials based on results. Compliance and Regulatory Training Ensure all mandatory training programs are compliant with provincial and federal regulations and standards, including those set by relevant accrediting bodies. Conduct regular audits and training sessions to reinforce compliance in key areas such as resident rights, infection prevention, and workplace safety. Mentorship and Coaching Provide coaching and mentorship to staff, promoting professional growth and skill development. Serve as a resource for clinical and non-clinical staff, offering guidance and support on best practices and quality care. Work closely with team leads to support the development of clinical preceptors, creating a peer support network within the organization. Quality Improvement Initiatives Partner with quality improvement teams to identify and address areas for improvement in care delivery. Implement training interventions and support initiatives to improve outcomes in resident care, staff satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate on corrective actions related to incidents or deficiencies identified through training gaps. Documentation and Record Keeping Maintain accurate records of all training sessions, participant progress, and completion rates. Prepare and submit reports on training metrics and outcomes to leadership, highlighting achievements and areas for development. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, Health Administration, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in long-term care or senior services preferred. Proven experience in training, curriculum design, and adult learning principles. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to long-term care. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and digital training tools. Key Competencies : Ability to create a positive learning environment and inspire staff development. Strong organizational and project management skills. Commitment to resident-centered care and continuous quality improvement. Sensitivity to the challenges faced in long-term care and empathy for residents and their families. Working Conditions : This role is primarily located on-site at the long-term care home. The Clinical Educator / Training Specialist may occasionally work irregular hours to accommodate the training needs of staff on various shifts.
