Thomson ReutersToronto, ON, Canada- Full-time
Our purpose at Thomson Reuters is to inform the way forward. Together with the professionals and institutions we serve, we help uphold the rule of law, turn the wheels of commerce, catch bad actors, report the facts, and provide trusted, unbiased information to people all over the world. Our people, products, and customers turn this purpose into action every day and create a meaningful positive impact on communities around the world.
We invite a seasoned, agile, and forward-thinking communications professional to help elevate our corporate narrative. In this role, you’ll be a linchpin for delivering coherent and compelling communications around financial and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) communications. You’ll not just disseminate financial information; you’ll articulate our fiscal achievements and business strategies, enriching our brand’s market standing while helping to shape executive communications across various platforms and stakeholders.
Based in Toronto, ON and operating under the direct purview of the Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, you’ll be the synchronizing force among various departments. In this individual contributor role, you will collaborate seamlessly with teams from finance to marketing, legal to investor relations, and executive leadership. You will drive unified messaging that is both accurate and impactful. Your relationship management skills will be characterized by a vital blend of trust, mutual respect, and specialist knowledge.
The ideal candidate will possess unmatched skills in navigating complex challenges, articulating solutions in a manner that’s both clear and engaging. Prior experience in financial and executive communications within the technology sector is indispensable, and familiarity with the dynamics of publicly listed companies is highly favored.
You enjoy being an individual contributor as the nature of the role requires you to thrive in the fluidity and ambiguity of a matrixed environment, operating without junior support. Your attention to detail will be nothing short of meticulous, and your experience in working closely with senior executives will set you apart.
Regular engagements with the media are an integral part of this high-stakes, high-visibility role. You’ll not only manage our relationships with business and technology journalists, including Reuters who maintain editorial independence, but will bring to the table an established network of media contacts in the technology sector, enabling you to make an immediate impact.
About the Role
In this opportunity as Director, Financial Communications, you will be responsible for the following :
- Craft and execute holistic communications strategies for financial reporting and M&A activities that are fully aligned with the company’s broader goals, vision, and business imperatives.
- Develop investor-focused communications materials, such as quarterly and annual reports, press releases, and investor decks, while adhering to legal regulations and industry best practices.
- Contribute to a comprehensive CEO PR framework, supporting the development of messaging, speeches, and op-ed pieces that resonate with diverse stakeholders, including employees, investors, customers, and the public.
- Lead in media management for matters related to financial communications and M&A.
- Function as a trusted advisor to senior executives, offering high-level strategic counsel on financial messaging, executive media handling, and M&A.
- Collaborate closely with the finance team to distill complex financial data into easily digestible insights for external dissemination.
- Partner with various teams to weave financial narratives into wider corporate initiatives and campaigns.
- Keep a finger on the pulse of industry trends, competitor moves, and regulatory shifts to offer timely advice and adjustments to the company’s financial communications strategy.
- Support the team in crisis communications, being part of a roster of cover (including out of hours) that includes incidents that hold reputational risk for the business.
