Job Description

Our client is looking for a Bilingual Director of Communications to join their team for a full-time permanent role! The Communications Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of communication strategies and public relations activities within the organization. This role involves crafting compelling messages, managing media relations, and ensuring consistent branding and messaging across all channels. The Communications Director works closely with senior leadership and senior stakeholders to align communication efforts with the organization's goals and values.

This position is remote across Canada.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the organization's objectives.
  • Identify key messages and audiences, and tailor communication efforts to effectively reach and engage these groups
  • Lead and oversee communications team
  • Build and maintain relationships with media representatives and influencers.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to secure positive media coverage
  • Organize and manage press conferences, media briefings, and interviews
  • Ensure all content is accurate, compelling, and consistent with the organization's brand voice and messaging
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans and strategies.
  • Act as the lead communicator during crisis situations, ensuring timely and accurate information is disseminated to stakeholders
  • Develop and manage stakeholder communication plans
  • Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and forums
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Fully Bilingual in English and French
  • Post secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a communications
  • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports
  • Proven experience in managing media relations and acting as an organizational spokesperson
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms
