Additional hours may be required at the discretion of the Education Director / Principal
Inclusive of meetings, supervision and planning required for exemplary teaching and support of the school’s instructional programs.
Inclusive of all school Professional Days (Pro-D Days) and Staff Meetings.
Inclusive of special events, special supervision or planning and special meetings required to support cultural and instructional programs outside of the regular work hours
Contract amount to be paid bi-weekly; hourly wage based on experience and classification
Additional Contract Benefits based on the Esk’etemc Benefits Package including :

Annual bonus payment of up to $2000 annually

Welcome to Sxoxomic Community School! We are located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. The Sxoxomic Community School enrolls 63 students from kindergarten to Grade 9.
We pride ourselves on creating a unique, student- centered learning environment that embraces Secwepemc values as the foundation for grades K4-9.

Necessary Qualifications :
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Principal of the School
Completion of a recognized Education Assistant course and / or an ECE trained worker
Experience and / or training working with groups of children in a school or other educational setting
Training and experience with students challenging behaviors
Demonstrated ability to employ effective behavior management techniques
Physically capable of performing all duties of the job
What we require :
Under the direction of the teacher, provide educational assistance in learning activities for students
Working one on one and in small groups
Assist with school supervision before and after school and during recess and lunch break
Share information with student support team to support design of IEP’s, learning activities and transition plans
Cultural and ability sensitive as well as trauma informed
Patience and understanding while managing children with diverse learning needs
Uses adapted strategies / activities to accommodate individual learner needs / styles
Carries out work within developed structures and plans and records progress notes from observations and one-to-one experience
Reviews / reinforces learning activities using lesson plans and learning strategies developed by the teacher and / or the learning support team
Documents, monitors and reports to teacher on program / strategy implementations
Implements specific techniques and monitors effectiveness of workplace settings and reports concerns to teacher / administrator
Will be flexible to work within the entire school setting when unscheduled changes arise
Has valid BC Drivers License (Class 5) or N
Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset
Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Sector is required
