We are seeking a collaborative and resourceful Data Systems Analyst Lead for our fast-paced Information Technology Enterprise Data Services Delivery function at Aviva Canada.

You will be part of the data systems analysis team and help scale the data and analytics capabilities. You will be responsible for being a liaison between various business units and technical data teams.

You'll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all areas including requirements, documentation, road mapping, data analysis, and data analytics.

Further, you will be part of the data transformation initiatives to help Aviva build the right data attitude to enable our direct-to-consumer business, data science capabilities, and expand our digital footprint.

This role will be part of and a member of our Information Technology Enterprise Data Services Delivery group. You will be responsible for creating the data ecosystem artifacts, maintenance, and project requirements in a high-performing, and experienced team.

You'll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all many areas including requirements, infrastructure, and solution documentations.

What you’ll do

Collaborate with business and IT to develop data requirement artifacts that meet corporate needs and industry standards / requirements, using your in-depth understanding of claims operations.

Review, analyze, and evaluate user needs to create data systems solutions that support overall business strategies. Use both business and technical expertise to liaise between IT and business users, capturing and documenting system requirements, defining scope and objectives, and assisting in the creation of system specifications that drive system development and implementation.

Strong Analysis and Design skills in a multi-tier environment, with a comprehensive understanding of claims processes and data.

Provide support to development and testing teams by triaging and testing data and financial issues, BAU defects, and enhancements, particularly those related to claims data.

Assist in coordinating and participating in the analysis, design, development, unit testing, and maintenance of critically important business applications, ensuring alignment with claims data requirements.

Participate in R&D to introduce effective software development practices and methodologies aimed at controlling costs and delivering quality data solutions on a timely basis, while building a strong, well-motivated development team.

Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as necessary, applying your extensive knowledge of claims operations when relevant.

Act as a point of contact to resolve business, technical, and solution-related challenges from delivery teams for best efficiency.

Advocate the importance of data catalogs, data governance, and data quality practices.

What you’ll bring

Education : University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science an asset.

Experience : Minimum 5 years’ of experience successfully contributing to the Data Systems Analysis organizations with expertise in building large-scale enterprise data assets.

Business Analysis : 8+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst working on mid-large projects for data design, development, and implementation of business-critical enterprise data systems.

Claims business operations & Guidewire Knowledge : Claims business operations and Guidewire Claim Center knowledge is a must.

Data Technologies : Solid grasp / experience with data technologies & tools (Snowflake, Hadoop, PostgreSQL, Informatica, etc.,)

SQL : Outstanding knowledge and experience in writing SQL scripts.

Documentation : Experience establishing documentation standards frameworks for data quality, data governance, stewardship and metadata management.

Business Process : Ability to foundationally understand complex business process driving technical systems.

Skills : Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and partner management skills.

Project Management & Presentation : Solid understanding of Project Management processes and ability to prepare & present presentation to senior management.

Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
