Lead the execution of the RRS Operational Risk mandate through the following responsibilities :

Lead and ensure the high performance of the NA RRS team in the execution of its mandate Operational Risk Mandate :

Prevent operational loss and ensuring the CM business is executed in compliance with applicable regulations by

Understanding processes, ensuring effective controls are in place and using data to prevent loss

Develop, plan and ensure the execution of Operational Risk Objectives and Key Results aligned with RRS, CM and BMO

Understand sources of data generated and the data that is used including transaction, market, economic data, etc. and apply to solve problems

Build and maintain an understanding of end-to-end processes in support of operational excellence and resilience.

Plan and execute short and long-term work and ad hoc deliverables within given timelines and budget

Methodically solve problems across a continuum that ranges from simple day-to-day issues to highly complex business, technical or regulatory issues.

Use judgement to effectively resolve conflict and manage competing priorities

Actively participate in relevant Committees and forums to represent the RRS mandate

Build positive relationships within, GM, I&CB and across Corporate Support Areas in order to garner support, advice and partnership that enables execution of the role

Engage with regulators as needed and establish and use your industry network in planning and decision making in the NA.

Assist in creating a holistic view of CM's first line non-financial risk profile to enables the business to see a targeted view of their key non-financial risks.

Support the development of a process that allows the escalation of key risks to flow to the appropriate executives and committees

Bring together the Owners of the risk areas to address risks in a timely and effective manner.

Protect the firm from non-financial risks with robust risk governance.

Develop or expand the business' inventory of KRIs (key risk indicators) by working with stakeholders in various risk areas to identify and fill reporting metric gaps

Identify efficiency opportunities and process improvements by analyzing data; automate and streamline processes and controls in support of creating capacity for further innovation across the team

Ongoing self-study about Capital Markets, emerging regulatory and industry issues, BMO business priorities, and best practices

Note : this role is within the Capital Markets business, in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer. The business operates at a quick pace with exceptional quality and high expectations;

as such the role requires the same pace coupled with high quality execution of deliverables.

The role will have high exposure within the business and can lead to attractive future opportunities for a high performer.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes :

Complete accountability for the execution of NA RRS Operational Risk mandate

Ability to represent Global Markets at internal committees, with regulators, with internal & external auditors and industry forums

Develop controls and safeguards to identify and manage risk, mitigate loss or damage

Excellent understanding of complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance, etc.)

Ability to :

Develop tools and methods to increase transparency in the group's risk-taking activities

Interpret and answer business questions, using various tools and data (e.g. data analytics, trend analysis)

Recognize problems, propose solutions and execute on them; quick learner

Create / execute a detailed plan for short and long term work; multiple plans consecutively

Ensure that key insights are supported by accurate data and research

Investigate opportunities for increasing efficiency in their regular responsibilities and projects and their value add to the business, including cost / benefit

Adapt and quickly develop in-depth understanding of new / different initiatives, requirements, or roles

Produce high quality budgeting and financial work

Smoothly lead calls and meetings

Develop, lead, influence, and challenge direct reports

Manage resources effectively; think strategically about resource usage : financial and human

Undergraduate degree, graduate degree preferred

5+ years related work experience

Advanced understanding of Capital Markets and / or complex financial institutions processes and business activities.

Familiar with Physical Commodities trading, especially risk associated with physical metals or energy trading.

Knowledge of best practices in leadership, people management, and career development

Knowledge of regulatory requirements in Financial Svcs, including AML, Supervision, Op Risk

Consistently focuses on learning more, and keeping up with regulatory changes / advancements

Exceptional knowledge of how operational risk can be used to create business value

Understanding of interconnected across BMO

Salary :

$68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Pay Type : Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
