Position Overview :
Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering and Research, the Director, Strategic Sourcing will develop and implement innovative strategic sourcing strategies to meet business needs and challenges, realize cost savings and efficiencies, as well as oversee the strategic plan for all suppliers and contract manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Represent Mevotech in negotiating contracts with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Define and deliver on performance indicators, cost reduction strategies and savings plans.
- Develop and implement strategic portfolios for each item and supplier, factoring in total costs and bargaining leverage.
- Prepare bid awards requiring board approval.
- Implement mechanisms to optimize the tendering process in view of any acquisitions.
- Review, evaluate, and approve requirements for issuing and awarding bids.
- Establish and maintain business partnerships with internal and external partners to drive collaboration, exert influence and spearhead optimal sourcing strategies based on corporate objectives.
- Proactively manage supply chain risks, from risk identification through to mitigation plan execution.
- Analyse market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Working with the supply chain team and quality departments maintain and monitor overall supplier scorecards / ratings.
- Responsible for development of supplier onboarding process.
- Maintenance of approved supplier list.
- Development of a global dual sourcing strategy for the organization
Ideal Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, related field (MBA an asset)
- 10 years’ relevant experience in contract manufacturing, strategic supply management or commodity management
- Experience negotiating major contracts.
- Experience in sourcing products from Asia
- Focused on optimizing costs and achieving ambitious goals.
- In-depth understanding of purchasing best practices and all segments of the value chain
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating a team.
- Creativity in developing new approaches to meeting challenges and identifying new opportunities for savings, process optimization and convergence.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, innovative and proven success working in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions :
- Hybrid work environment : 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
- Ability to travel internationally (3 times per year China, Thailand, India)
