Reports to the Maintenance and / or Transportation Supervisor, and performs a variety of tasks related to the Maintenance and / or Transportation Department.
Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and / or guaranteed hours.

Position - Grounds Labourer
Start Date - As soon as possible (flexible)
Employment - Casual / On Call (hours vary)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with transportation of furniture and equipment within the School District.
Repairs chairs, tables, and other furniture, as required.
Assists with laying drain and septic tiles.
Operates a grounds vehicle and trailer.
Digs, cleans out and fill ditches.
Cuts and trims grass
Checks areas before cutting (check for rocks, bottles, etc)
Mixes, moves and pours cement.
Assists roofer as required.
Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
Respond to emergency situations as requested.
Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of Grade 10.
B.C. Driver's License.
Acceptable driving record.
Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to use judgement in applying clearly prescribed methods and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the routine exchange or provision of information.
