SALARY : Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum : $141,146

Maximum : $194,076

ORGANIZATION : The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV / AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs.

A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and Researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare through the development, ongoing monitoring and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV and related diseases.

Reporting to the Senior Director, the Director provides leadership for the clinical operational teams and areas of the organization including the Hope to Health Research and Innovation Centre primary care clinic, supervised consumption site, safer drug supply program and liaises with the on-site Pharmacy and Laboratory leadership.

The Director is responsible for the oversight of smooth and efficient service delivery through planning, coordination and execution of clinical operations in compliance with regulatory standards and in alignment with organizational goals.

This includes program management, resource planning and strategic planning for the clinical operations and ensuring effective coordination and collaboration among clinical teams and services.

Working with the Senior Director, the Director sets the strategic and operational direction of the services, ensures documentation of clinical SOPs, and provides leadership in the maturity of processes and guidelines in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

The Director leads teams of clinical professionals, ensuring cohesive and consistent support, monitoring the effectiveness of the day-to-day operations.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Planning and leadership (clinical operation strategies, people leadership, resource management).
  • Operational management (program / project leadership, process improvement, stakeholder / partnership management, cross functional collaboration).
  • Regulatory compliance and Audit / Accreditation management.
  • Clinical data management and reporting.
  • Team management (Right sizing staffing models and teams, training and development, performance review, coaching).
  • Budget management and reporting.
  • Collaborates to communicate program / department / service needs and outcomes.
  • Ensures program / department / service operate within approved financial mandate. Reviews and endorses budgets and financial plans developed by Managers.
  • Oversees development of policies supports for integration and standardization of health programs / services, capacity and ensuring a systems perspective.
  • Ensures standardization of practice, quality, safety and cost effectiveness support creating integrated patient / client / resident-centered care.
  • Represents the program / department / service in the health service community, civic / provincial governments or others.
  • Ensures performance management criteria form the basis of metrics for program and individual performance plans.
  • Provides leadership to support engagement and respect through support of the well-being and safety of our people through effective feedback, retention strategies, work practices that support work / life balance and the encouragement of personal and professional development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience

A Master’s level of education in a field related to health care management supplemented by eight (8) to ten (10) years of recent related experience in progressively more senior management / leadership roles or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership in roles to lead and move forward complex organizational change issues across health service needs which support broad transformational objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to incorporate program needs within the broader context of the health delivery system and multiple site / service requirements.
  • Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to clinical service delivery, budget management and reporting, staffing model, quality management and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Proven presentation skills within a senior leadership capacity.
  • Proven proficiency of leading practice in the field of healthcare leadership
  • Strong program planning and development skills including integration of evidence-based best practices.
  • Demonstrated innovative leadership skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to foster a collaborative team approach to decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff at all organizational levels both internally and externally.
  • Ability to uses strong analytical, financial and research abilities to support decision-making.
  • Ability to understand and utilize administrative and research information related to clinical care and practices.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and computer applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety of staff and patients.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
