Charter is looking for a Project Controls Specialist with scheduling focus and expertise to join our team in Vancouver, BC to work on infrastructure projects ranging from $50M to $4B located throughout the province of British Columbia.
In this role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team on a variety of projects, developing, maintaining, tracking, and analyzing project schedules throughout the different phases of the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Works on multiple heavy civil and infrastructure projects; including transit and transportation projects;
- Develops, tracks and maintains executive and detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 ;
- Creates what-if scenarios and performs delay analyses;
- Provides regular schedule updates and reports, including 6-week Lookaheads suited to specific audiences;
- Reviews contractors’ schedules and provides commentary / recommendations to the client;
- Assesses and proposes options for accelerating / recovering schedule;
- Integrates schedules provided by contractors, third parties and key stakeholders to create a master project schedule to identify potential interfacing conflicts;
- Has a sound understanding of scheduling best practices;
- Undertakes the development of preliminary schedules in the planning phases prior to all information becoming available by drawing assumptions, experience and / or lessons learned from past projects;
- Writes technical memorandums and / or reports as required;
- Supports Quantitative Risk Assessments and Quantitative Schedule Risk Assessments;
- Participates in the creation and updates of Risk Registers;
- Participates in internal and external workshops such as schedule and constructability schedules;
Usage of Earned Value for tracking project’s performance is an asset.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar;
- Core experience in heavy civil and infrastructure construction is essential;
- Experience in transportation and transit projects is an asset;
- Minimum 3-5 years of project and / or construction scheduling experience;
- Minimum 5 years of field experience in heavy civil and infrastructure;
- Proficiently interprets drawings, specifications and reports of multiple disciplines including but not limited to Geotechnical, Environmental, Archaeological, etc.;
- Has a strong constructability background; understands construction sequencing, staging, methods, equipment and industry standard productivities applied to infrastructure projects;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable communicating virtually or in-person with the client and other stakeholders in a consultant environment;
- Works efficiently in a team environment including internal staff and external consultants;
- Ability to handle different projects while prioritizing critical submissions;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
Proficiency in MS Project and / or TILOS is an asset.
Requirements
The job schedule consists of a standard Monday to Friday work week; however, it requires the candidate to work in the Charter office a minimum of two days per week.
