Unit Summary
The Medical Affairs department is responsible for overseeing administration for Professional Staff at Hamilton Health Sciences.
Medical Affairs works closely with the Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Executive, the Senior Medical Officer, and Physician Chiefs.
Medical Affairs supports medical workforce recruitment, credentialing, resource planning / allocation, education, and communication within the hospital.
The department supports medical learners at McMaster University Faculty of Health Science (FHS), partnering closely with the leadership of FHS.
Position Summary
The Emergency Department at the Juravinski Hospital (JH) provides full services for the region’s adult patient population seeing approximately 120 patients per day.
JH is also the host hospital for the Regional Cancer Centre. Emergency Department wait time is identified as an important HHS quality of care indicator that aligns with organizational goals to achieve a more seamless healthcare system.
In-patient services are provided via consults and out-patient services are provided through established out-patient clinics.
Collaboration with clinical partners in multi-disciplinary care is an important part of the clinical care provided by the Emergency Department.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Sunday, days, evenings, nights, weekends, on-call (as applicable)
Qualifications
1. Graduate of Physician Assistant Program
2. Prior experience in an Emergency Department setting an asset
3. Demonstrated ability to make decisions in times of emergencies
4. Demonstrated ability to work alongside Intensivists, Nurses and other Health Care Professionals
5. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
6. Demonstrated ability to promote professional development
7. Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
8. Demonstrated commitment to patient and family-centered care
9. Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problem-solving, organization and prioritization
