Our Opportunity :

As part of the Tims Beverage Innovation team, the Sr. Manager, Espresso Innovation will work cross-functionally to support all stages of new Canadian product / beverage innovation for Tim Hortons, from idea / concept stage to test / market launch for specific projects, with a primary focus on espresso based and coffee beverages.

You will be leading the Espresso vision for the company reporting directly to our Beverage Director.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Actively partner with the Coffee Sourcing, Category Marketing, Test Market & Calendar, as well as external vendors to develop Tim Hortons’ Espresso Beverage innovations & Equipment roadmap
  • Collaborating with the wider Beverage Innovation team, primarily own coffee-centric Beverage Innovation, with a heavy focus on Espresso Based & Specialty Coffee Beverages
  • Manage the end-to-end process of product innovation, including bringing new to market ideas as well as core renovations from concept to reality (idea creation, recipe experimentation and validation, product preparation and build recommendations)
  • Develop coffee product and recipes, including new recipes as well as core recipe optimization and quality improvements
  • Champion specialty coffee quality throughout the organization and devise mechanics for improving quality and elevating guest perceptions
  • Balance ingredient cost, product quality and operational feasibility for all new initiatives to enable seamless transition to commercialization team
  • Manage cross-functional projects to drive implementation of espresso improvement initiatives with Operations, Supply Chain, and Equipment teams
  • Conduct tasting and innovation showcase presentations to excite internal stakeholders
  • Present product presentations to feed into Stage Gate and sign-off meetings
  • Support execution of consumer sensory testing and field agent evaluations for new and existing products

Required Skills :

  • Significant technical coffee experience required, including recipe development, coffee profiling, sensory evaluations, equipment calibration
  • Strong knowledge in specialty coffee and espresso with supporting professional coffee and sensory qualifications or accreditations
  • Ability to negotiate successfully with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers
  • Excellence communication and project management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, functions effectively with ambiguity
  • Passion for coffee and beverage innovation, hunger to learn more
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office : Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
