HRGeneralist
Our client is seekingan HR practitioner who will report to the HR Manager and haveresponsibilities spanning various HR functions including talentacquisition performance management health and safety learning anddevelopment and onboarding / offboarding.
Job Duties &Responsibilities
Human Resources :
- Provide support and guidance to employees onHRrelated matters and understand the pulse of the firm ensuringeffective communication and employee engagement.
- Support the HR Manager in implementing programs to helpimprove the employee experience.
- Lead thefullcycle recruitment process including preparation of job postingsscreening applicants recommending candidates for interviewsselecting suitable candidates conducting reference checks andrelated correspondence.
- Participate inadministering the performance management process including annualperformance reviews and related performance improvementprograms.
- Process timeoff requests for staffand track staff absences. Coordinate assistance for lawyers whenstaff are absent or when overflow is required.
- Maintain a bringforward system for scheduling meetingsprobationary / performance reviews annual projects vacationentitlements etc.
- Conduct employee onboardingand offboarding.
- Serve as a member of thefirm's Health & Safety Committee.
- Coordinate yearly HR events (e.g. Flu Vaccinations StaffAppreciation Week).
- Participate in midyear andyearend budget procedures (e.g. create spreadsheets gather andinput data and make projections).
- Provideconsultation and advice to managers and lawyers on a variety ofemployee relations and HR issues.
- Leadplanning for professional development sessions for legalstaff.
- Act as Payroll backup.
LegalTalent :
- Providesupport to the Manager Legal Talent with the legalstudents' recruitment process onboarding andoffboarding.
- Coordinate all documents andapplications for students with the Law Society of BC.
- Assist with executing call ceremonies.
- Act as the point of contact for legalstudents.
- Participate in administering theperformance review process and compensation reviews for allAssociates.
Perform otherduties as required.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree certificate or diploma inHR.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience inHR.
- Familiar with standard concepts practicespolicies and procedures across Human Resources.
- Knowledge and experience with HRIS systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Strong problem resolution skills and the ability toeffectively respond to questions and concerns fromemployees.
- Sound judgment decisionmaking andproblemsolving skills.
- Ability to communicateclearly and professionally via verbal and writtencommunication.
- Proven ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with all levels of anorganization.
- Customerfocused mindset with ahigh level of professionalism employee confidentiality anddiscretion.
- Ability to maintain a positive andprofessional attitude and disposition.
- Provenability to prioritize and manage competing demands with a highlevel of attention to detail and accountability.
