The Technical Leader - Civil Structural Team, contributes to the team responsible for the development of Civil Engineering activities in support the New Plants Engineering projects.
The Civil Engineering Technical Leader will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver New Nuclear Plant Projects.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide Technical Leadership of a small group of Engineers and Contractors in activities related to analyses, calculations and technical evaluations required for timely resolution of design and implementation issues
- Manage project work schedules and priorities
- Mentor and provide technical leadership in area of expertise to other engineers and projects
- Work within a team environment to execute work plans within budget and schedule
- Support civil systems design and / or equipment construction activities, respond to vendor questions and deviation requests;
review and approve vendor document submittals
- Support the certification processes for GE Products (e.g. BWRX-300, VTR, Natrium) to address all US NRC (or other nuclear regulator) design certification requirements
- Establish and maintain technical oversight of the applicable regulations (e.g.; US, other national, or global region)
- Have other duties as assigned by Manager
- Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, licensing, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues
- Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents
- Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and
- Manage the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University;
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a technology or engineering role.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University
- Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience
- Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, BWR core / fuel material behavior, and mechanical or structural design fundamentals
- Strong communication and writing skills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
- Strong facilitation, team building, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of project management.
- Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
- Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving and process skills
- Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity.
- Detail-oriented and accountable for results.
- Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment
- A self-starter willing to take initiative
