Brookfield Global Transition Fund
Brookfield Global Transition Fund (BGTF" or the Fund") is Brookfield's primary vehicle for investing in and facilitating the global transition to a net zero carbon economy.
The Fund builds on Brookfield's leadership in renewable power and deep operating capabilities to scale clean energy and invest capital to catalyze the transformation of carbon-intensive businesses to achieve Paris-alignment.
BGTF focuses on the following investment themes, which contribute to the transition to a net zero global economy and promote sustainablemunities :
- Business Transformation : Help transition utility, energy, and industrial businesses by reducing CO2e emissions and energy consumption through investment in greener production processes and energy efficiency technologies
- Clean Energy : Expand low-carbon and renewable energy production and related technologies that provide and support additional clean energy capacity to the energy mix
- Sustainable Solutions : Advance the adaptive capacity of ourmunities or drive the growth of a circular economy through waste management, resource efficiency, development of resilient infrastructure, and services that support these solutions
Position Summary
Brookfield is recruiting for an Associate, Investments in our Toronto office. The role represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic global team.
This professional will support the assessment and execution of investment opportunities in the renewable power and energy transition sectors, including investments in industrial and hard-to-abate GHG emissions sectors.
The Associate will support investments for BGTF, which is Brookfield's primary platform for investing in the global net zero transition.
The responsibilities for this position would include the following :
- Assist in targeting and evaluating new investment opportunities in clean energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors;
- Assist in developing ideas for potential transaction and deal structures, perform industry research and evaluate new market segments and potential opportunities;
- Assess potential investments through building detailed financial models to evaluate potential transactions andpany / industry research;
- Assess potential investment opportunities' potential decarbonization impact consistent with Brookfield Global Transition Fund's impact measurement and management approach;
- Work with operating teams across the organization as a key aspect of the planning andpletion of due diligence;
- Project management of teams across the organization to assess GHG reduction and development opportunities for potential investment;
- Prepare investmentmittee materials and other transaction documents;
- Contribute to a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude;
- Conduct special projects, as required.
Candidates will possess the following qualities and capabilities :
- Analytical with strong understanding and execution of applied financial, investment analyses, and very strong financial modelling ability;
- Professional with a positive attitude, capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture;
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, cope with changing priorities and meet deadlines;
- Excellent interpersonal andmunications skills, able to interact across all levels of the organization;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment;
- Background in energy-related, infrastructure or industrial sectors is beneficial;
- Strong interest in decarbonization and impact investments.
Qualifications and requirements :
- A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture;
- 2 years of experience in investment banking, restructuring, private equity, renewable power investments or other relevant areas;
- High level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point and very strong financial modeling skills.
