What is the opportunity?
As Director, Mid-Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance, you play a key role in the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives through the structuring, delivery and management of leveraged lending principally to Private Equity (PE) owned / backed companies.
The Leverage Lending team is responsible for meeting annually established targets for loan derived revenues and returns and providing advice to our partners on optimizing the use of lending in connection with broader RBC relationship goals.
You will have a particular focus on PE and Structured Finance. The CCG Mid-Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance team has a national mandate and this Director role will be focused on Western Canada, with flexibility to be based out of Calgary or Vancouver.
What will you do?
Take part in a national team of Mid-Market Leverage lending underwriters committed to the delivery of quality credit products to Private Equity owned / backed companies.
Originate, structure, deliver (pitch though deal close) and monitor syndicated and bi-lateral loan transactions under the direction of Managing Director (MD) & Head CCG Mid Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance
Support CCG Relationship MDs and Relationship bankers in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients under direction of MD & Head CCG Mid-Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance
Follow-up under direction of MD & Head CCG Mid-Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance for partnership opportunities with Private Banking, RBC Investments, Capital Markets, specialized teams in CFS (leasing, trade finance etc.), and Personal Banking
Provide analysis and data for advice on the optimal capital structure including the amount of bank Sr. & Mezz debt required to meet strategic objectives with each client relationship
Provide data, analysis, and support to the MD & Head CCG Mid-Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance for the
balance of risk and return associated with loan transactions contemplated as part of client strategies Support and run, through flexibility and enthusiasm, other initiatives and projects
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields with credit knowledge and ability to manage complex concepts
Proven work experience in corporate lending, finance and / or risk management with a familiarity with Leveraged Lending transactions and / or Private Equity firms
Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designation ongoing or completed
Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel presentation skills Strong ability to model financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets
Nice-to-have
Strong financial, credit and accounting skills
Strong analytical, technical, written and communication skills
Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
