What is the opportunity? As Vice President, Mid-Market Leverage Finance ( MMLF ), you will play a key role in the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives through the structuring, delivery and management of senior secured leveraged lending transactions principally to Private Equity (PE) owned / backed companies.
The MMLF team is responsible for meeting annually established targets for loan derived revenues and returns and providing advice to our partners on optimizing the use of lending in connection with broader RBC relationship goals.
This role has a particular focus on PE. What will you do?
Part of a growing national team of MMLF credit underwriters committed to the delivery of quality credit solutions to Private Equity owned / backed operating companies
Under the directions of MD / Director MMLF, structure, deliver (pitch through deal close), monitor and manage syndicated and bi-lateral loan transactions
Provide research, analysis, and data (market, industry, clients) to support Corporate Client Group (CCG) guidance and advice on optimal loan structures required to meet client objectives.
Provide analysis and support on risk and return profiles associated with loan transactions contemplated as part of client strategies and indicative transaction responses
Support the CCG MMLF mandate to develop and maintain a business pipeline, win new business and close loan transactions sufficient in number to meet revenue plans
Support the management and monitoring of the MMLF loan portfolio, including timely reporting of material shifts in risk, client needs, and structure, and provide recommendations for action, including new marketing opportunities
Full involvement on MMLF credit submissions and associated analysis
Lead and support the creation of professional pitch books and presentations to existing and potential clients
Engage with RBC partners and functions including CCG Relationship Managers, CCG Treasury & Cash Management, Credit Management, Global Loans Administration, GRM, Wealth Management, Mid Market M&A, CCG Capital Partners, CCG Mid-Market Syndications, CCG Portfolio Management
What do you need to succeed? Must have :
Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business or Economics
Work experience in corporate lending / Mid-Market Leverage Finance and / or risk management
Proven capability to work through loan agreements and other legal documents, with high attention to detail.
Strong ability to model and interpret financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets
Strong analytical, technical, written and communication skills
Knowledge of senior debt credit products and the application thereof
Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines
Strong personal and client relationship skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints
Bilingualism (English and French) required for candidates in Quebec, as you will regularly do business with partners across Canada
Nice to have :
Understanding and familiarity with RBC internal processes
CPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation ongoing or completed
Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel
Private equity lending experience
