Position Overview
As a Lead Estimator, you will prepare, review and present estimates for specific project proposal activities. In this role, you will provide estimating leadership and guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates and perform cost analysis.
You will be responsible for assisting in the development of discipline estimates, developing and updating historical databases, and assisting in the development of department procedures.
You will provide direction to others on estimate specific level tasks as required.

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls.
We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages.

Location
This position is based in our Montreal office in Pointe-aux-Trembles.
Responsibilities
- Review the owner's plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop an execution plan as the basis for the estimate
- Lead the estimating team in the preparation of cost estimates for major projects across Canada
- Coordinate with each discipline's leads and estimators, project planners, procurement, and proposal teams to develop a complete proposal for our clients
- Perform a quantitative evaluation of the scope of work in accordance to our quantity tracking system, evaluate labour, material cost and construction equipment requirements for the project
- Validate the quantities given by the discipline estimators
- Review and evaluate suppliers and subcontract cost proposition, compliance with project specification and alignment with project strategy and propose selected proponent for the estimate proposition and close-out.
- Prepare a comprehensive summary of the estimate to present to the management team and get estimate approval
- Prepare a comprehensive presentation and summary of the estimate for external clients
- Maintain a professional and trustworthy relationship with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience in heavy industrial estimating
- About 8 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial estimating
- Excellent knowledge of the Canadian construction market
- Excellent communication skills in French required, English a strong asset as we have projects across Canada
- Advanced computer skills. Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCad and BlueBeam software is an asset
- Experience in industrial, hydro, oil and gas and mining is an asset
