Job Description
We are taking an increasingly strong position in the hydroelectric turbine-generator consultancy market and the continual development of our expertise in the field is a growth objective in our energy sector.
With this in mind, the Engineer will join a dynamic team and will be called upon to participate in the development of this expertise by providing engineering services and advice on the design, manufacture, installation and operation of the turbine and alternator as part of the construction of new power stations, the refurbishment of existing units or the optimisation of their operation.
We offer a flexible hybrid work model, enabling you to work from home and from one of our offices. The position can be based anywhere in Quebec, preferably in the Greater Montreal or Sherbrooke areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Carrying out preliminary unit modernisation projects, including plant technical audits, analysing customer requirements and drawing up technical specifications
- Carrying out engineering projects for generating set modernisation / replacement, new power plants, major parts refurbishment, power increase analysis, cost estimates, schedules, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, etc.
- Verification of compliance with contractual technical requirements of documentation produced by suppliers, such as drawings, calculation notes, manufacturing procedures, purchasing specifications, assembly procedures, etc.
- Technical writing, such as analysis reports, verification reports, technical modification requests, non-conformity reports, etc.
- Follow-up of manufacture in the workshop and assembly / modification of units on site
- Selection, optimisation and hydraulic sizing of turbines based on curves and reference hydraulic model tests
- Calculations to optimise power plant output
- Coordination of mechanical interfaces between turbine-generator sets and civil, mechanical and electrical plant structures
Qualifications
- University degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Current member (or eligible to become a member) of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, manufacture and assembly of turbine-generator sets
- Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy
- Fluency in written and spoken French
- Fluency in spoken and written English in a professional context to ensure communications on certain projects at a national level
- Willingness to travel to clients, on site, and to suppliers from time to time
