IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY
Interim Vice President Integrated Marketing Communications
Reports To : Senior Vice-President
Duration : 12 to 18 months
Location : Toronto or Waterloo (if Toronto based, frequent travel to Waterloo would be required)
Hybrid working (3 Days a week onsite)
Our client, a well-known corporate name in financial services, is seeking a seasoned communications professional to help lead the team and the organization through a period of transition and change.
In this assignment you will be accountable for coaching and inspiring a talented team alongside helping the Senior Vice President elevate the sophistication and value of the function.
The interim VP will lead a team accountable for internal and external communications, marketing and brand strategy, and corporate events.

Key Accountabilities :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication plan for the whole organization. This will include, conducting situational analysis, setting key goals and priorities, targeting specific audiences, planning key messages, implementing, and evaluating marketing and communications activities.
- Lead strategic communication for the organization, including written and verbal statements, speeches and presentations made by the CEO and other members of the executive team.
- Acts as a mentor, coach, and facilitator to create and sustain a collaborative and supportive team environment through the sharing of information.
- Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
- Lead a project to assess processes and workflows. Provide insights and own solutioning to improve the operational impact and performance of the team.
- Manage external vendor relationships ensuring our client is getting the best value and optimal service levels.
- Manages the client’s reputation, including the efficacy of issues management and crisis communications protocols and processes.
- Establishes and maintains effective issues management processes and protocols including crisis / incident response communication plans.
- Develops broader stakeholder engagement strategies and action plans and provides leadership to the development of optimal outcomes to support effective engagement and sustainability of same.
- Manages critical relationships and builds networks to negotiate and resolve conflict that have a crucial impact on strategic direction and mandate.
- Models’ organizational values and organizational culture and embeds values into area of responsibility.
- Objectively assess the current structures and talent across the portfolio providing key insights to the Senior Vice President
- Work with the executive team to review the overall brand strategy and advise on progressive ways to build the brands resonance.
- Lead, coach and inspire a talented team through a period of transition and change.
- Develop and oversee a budget for all communications and marketing activities.
Competencies and Requirements :
- An undergraduate degree in Communications or a related field of study; a relevant professional designation is an important asset.
- 15+ years of progressively more responsible experience, including demonstrated strategic leadership / management experience in a similar capacity to understand relevant issues.
- Credibility as a strategic leader, with the skills to formulate, implement and manage the communications function.
- Excellent change management skills and the ability to drive for results, strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent team leadership, coaching, project management and mentoring skills and the ability to work in an open and consultative manner with others and accomplish goals through influence and motivation aligned to a common purpose.
A marketing expert, who is well-versed in both technical knowledge and strategic thinking.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective and collaborative interaction with all levels in the organization and with external partners.
- An approachable leader with a proven track record to inspire, motivate and develop team members.
- Experience managing successful complex internal / external communications projects e.g. M&A, legislative changes, etc.
