The team :
Scotiabank's Cloud Native Engineering (CNE) team is accountable for building and maintaining platforms running on Public Cloud.
Our services include architecture, engineering, and operational support of our platforms. Our team is part of the Scotiabank's Global Technology & Enterprise Platforms (GTEP), which is a team of over 1,800 people located in 15 countries, with our primary locations in Toronto and Mexico City.
The role :
You will modernize both development practices and tools for the existing and new platform products. You have proven record of automating complex systems based on cloud resources and have strong experience in implementing highly available solutions with a team of cloud engineers.
You will enhance the team's development process and automated testing practices.
When required, you are expected to be a part of after-hours project deployments in the evenings or weekends.
Is this role right for you?
- You consider yourself to be a subject matter expert in designing and managing Cloud Services - Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) & Platform as a Service (PaaS)
- You are eager for the opportunity to supervise & lead engineers on detailed design, breaking-down, scoping, and estimating tasks, and implementing cloud services.
- You are proficient in providing Level 3 support for developed Cloud Services.
- You can develop & document operational procedures for service operations teams.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- You have at least 3+ years of technical leadership experience in delivering cloud-based solutions with a team of cloud engineers.
- You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience in the use of Azure Cloud and Google Cloud Platform for services such as : Container Orchestration (Google Kubernetes Engine, Azure Kubernetes Services, App Service Environment) Container Registry (Google Container Registry, Azure Container Registry) Virtual Private Cloud (Cloud Load Balancing, Network Security Groups, Private Endpoints etc.
IaaS Services (Compute, Azure Service Environments, App Engine, Autoscaler) Storage Services (Google Cloud Storage, Azure Storage Accounts, Managed Disks) Relational Database Services (Cloud SQL, AzureSQL Managed Instance)
You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience of using Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI / CD) Tools (e.
g., Git plus Azure DevOps and / or Jenkins and / or GitHub Enterprise, etc.) for the purposes of maintaining pipelines.
- You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) delivery pipelines using HashiCorp's Terraform.
- You have at least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience in implementing Terratest testing framework with GO programming language (Golang).
- You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience in the use of Configuration Management & Automation tools (e.
g., Perforce's Puppet and / or Red Hat Ansible and / or Progress® Chef®).
- You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Bash and / or Powershell to develop automation & deployment utilities.
- You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working knowledge of Cloud Security concepts.
- You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience in providing L3 operational support on Azure Cloud and Google Cloud Platform services.
- You possess a sound knowledge of software development methodologies including Agile Scrum / Kanban and Waterfall.
- You can demonstrate a proficiency in root cause analysis and problem solving in production support scenarios.
- Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related technology-based stream.
