What is the opportunity? This role supports the market data needs for RBC Financial Group globally. This role requires an understanding of not only Stock Exchange data, but also the business lines being served - including Fixed Income, Equities, Research, Investment Banking, Wealth Management and Personal & Commercial Banking - as well as the problems business line managers face.
As part of our global Market Data team, you will partner with other Market Data, business and technology professionals located in RBC offices worldwide, ensuring proprietary applications have appropriate market data control and reporting mechanisms and that market data use policies are well understood and adhered to.
You will also be responsible for understanding market data distribution architectures / infrastructures, participating / leading market data audits (both internally and externally driven) as well as ongoing proactive cost management of market data services.
Please note : This role can be at an Analyst / Associate level, depending on the candidate's background / experience. What will you do?
- Provide leadership on best practices on market data control, logging and audit trail capabilities within proprietary applications
- Participate in market data architecture forums and planning sessions as well as support to projects (supplying subject matter expertise)
- Work closely with Market Data Operations / Engineering on new implementations
- Participate in regular exchange and vendor data use audits
- Maintain and prepare third-party provided exchange exhibits and contracts, including application use questionnaires and network diagrams
- Interpret bulletins from exchanges and third parties as to reporting obligations and changes to policies and pricing
- Maintain awareness of third-party market data licensing policies (unit of count, netting, MISU, etc.)
- Champion RBC’s ongoing internal market data application audit reviews
- Participate in industry working groups to lobby for consistent policies across data provider community
- Analyze and maintain communication of vendor data changes impacting users and applications
- Create and maintain application permissioning reports
- Look for ways to leverage vendors and service partners to enhance service
- Develop a strong understanding of RBC businesses, services, procedures and processes in order to identify opportunities for improvements
What you need to succeed?
- University or college degree in a relevant field of study
- Client Focus, strategic agility, priority setting, analytical thinking, aptitude for setting realistic expectations, strategic business sense, integrity and trust
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Knowledge in Excel a requirement
- Detail oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Industry experience an asset :
- Stock exchange market data experience (E.g. : Bloomberg, Refinitiv, etc.), distribution mechanisms and control systems (DACS, EMRS)
- Strong familiarity with unit of count concepts and other exchange / third party contractual and reporting terminology
- Experience completing Exhibit A or other exchange / third party documentation.
- Knowledge of Exchange direct feeds and understanding of network communications (TCP / IP, Unicast and Multicast protocol)
- Previous experience in Capital Markets an asset
