Our Road & Utilities engineering team is looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team. As a member of our Roads & Utilities Group in the Engineering, Design and Project Management Division for Central Canada, you will be working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment, developing studies, reports and detailed designs in collaboration with road, utilities, structural, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, foundations, geomatics, rail and electrical design during the course of our design assignments.

Your role within the team

  • Develop stormwater, drainage, and Low Impact Development plans, catchment area analysis, hydrological / hydraulic models, and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, specifications, bid documents, engineering directives, and other data, according to client specifications for the projects.
  • Develop and oversee preparation of reports, calculations, technical memos, and contract packages including water design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Establish and maintain client and stakeholder relationships, and carry out and manage technical studies, Environmental Assessments, and prepare necessary documentation to support permits and approvals from agencies.
  • Lead and coordinate with project teams consisting of engineers, engineering interns and CAD technicians in the planning, execution, and management of projects related to water resources.
  • Conduct QA / QC reviews and stamp / seal engineering drawings and documents.
  • Support project managers with proposal writing, business development, and client-based support.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members.

The ideal candidate

  • Bachelors Degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Water Resources Engineering including hydrological & hydraulic analysis and modeling, technical studies and reports, preliminary and detailed design, drawings, cost estimate, specifications, and contract documents for the drainage, stormwater management, LID systems, and erosion & sediment controls.
  • Experience with water resources modeling programs such as HEC-RAS, PC-SWMM, EPA SWMM, InfoWorks, VISUAL OTTHYMO, Culvert Master, etc.

MS Office Suite skills.

  • Strong familiarity with water resources policies, standards and practices in Ontario and familiarity with municipal and provincial clients and approving agencies.
  • Experienced in proposal development including technical writeup, elaborating understanding and approach, preparing time task breakdowns, fee estimates, and deliverables.
