Join Odyssey Theatre’s team this summer for our 38th season as Ottawa’s premier professional open-air theatre. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people from diverse backgrounds with a passion for the arts who want to contribute to the success of our season.
Work with a dynamic and collaborative team, gain experience with a professional arts organization, and spend the summer with Ottawa’s leading mask and movement Theatre!
This summer, we are staging a creative arts fair to bring together artists, youth and diverse audiences to explore myth and legend through workshops, theatre, dance, story-telling and exciting community arts events.
Workshops and rehearsals take place in July and August with the Fair taking place August 13-18.
We are hiring a Public Relations and Outreach Assistant . The successful candidate is up to 30 years of age, and will work with the General Manager and Marketing Director to create an effective community outreach campaign, provide information to the public, and engage and facilitate participation by diverse community groups underserved by the arts.

Duration : 35 hours per week Some weekends required
Location : Arts Court (2 Daly Ave.) and Strathcona Park
The successful candidate will be responsible to :
- Assist with initiatives to promote our community outreach program;
- Research groups working with diverse and underserved members of the community;
- Conduct outreach to schedule bookings for community groups to attend and participate in theatre and arts events;
- Assist in developing written and visual promotional materials;
- Assist in updating web sites and social media;
- Posting information on online event sites to promote Odyssey’s activities;
- Create blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos;
- Distribute printed and digital marketing materials;
- Respond to public enquiries accurately and promptly, assisting people to register and obtain tickets for events;
- Maintain and update databases (eg. mailing and donor lists).
- Assist the front of house manager;
- Assist with administrative duties as needed.
The successful candidate should have :
- Courses in Theatre, Marketing, Communications, Media / Public Relations or similar;
- Attention to detail;
- Excellent telephone skills and dealing with community groups and the public;
- Outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with the public;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal);
- Excellent digital skills (Mac, Microsoft Office, Canva, WordPress, etc.);
- Experience with Social Media platforms;
- Ability to show initiative;
- Ability to work independently.
