Odyssey Theatre is looking for a Production Assistant to join our company for our upcoming 38th season in Strathcona Park, Ottawa.
From August 13-18, we are staging a creative arts fair to bring together artists, youth and diverse audiences to explore myth and legend through workshops, theatre, dance, story-telling and exciting community arts events.
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person who has a passion for the arts, theatre production experience and who is committed to contributing to the success of our season.

The Production Assistant works with our Community Programs Director and our Technical Director to help facilitate rehearsals, performances and activities.
You will liaise with diverse community performers and artists to understand their technical requirements and meet their technical and production needs.
You will run the back stage area during performances.
Dates : August 1-20, Duration : 3 weeks, 6 days per week (40 hours) Salary : $ 17.50 / hour
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following tasks :
- Assist the Program Director and Technical Director to meet technical requirements of artists and groups;
- Liaise with external artists (performance and visual) to ensure smooth rehearsals and performances;
- Assist the Technical Director with technical set-up and strike of the site at beginning and end;
- Set-up and strike the site each day;
- Assist with production elements required by performers;
- Manage the backstage area during performances.
The successful candidate must have :
- Careful attention to detail;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Positive, professional attitude;
- Ability to show initiative and creatively solve problems;
- Extremely dependable;
- Ability to work independently;
- Theatre production experience or training;
- Collaborative team player.
A valid driver’s licence is required and access to a car is an asset.
