Located in Barrie and reporting to the Associate Dean, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in our new and exciting Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening. Specific duties include, but are not limited to :
- Delivering courses in the Medical Laboratory Assistant program specifically in the area of Microbiology
- Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluating student progress / achievement
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications :
- A Medical Laboratory Technologist Advanced Diploma or Degree
- Must possess and maintain :
- Current registration, in good standing, as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO)
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a registered Lab Technologist, including experience in Quality Assurance and Control, Microbiology, Phlebotomy, Hematology, Chemistry, Transfusion Medicine
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset : curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
