Position Overview
As part of a Light-Rail Transit (LRT) project based in Ottawa, we are seeking a Permit Coordinator to join our team on a full-time contract until 2026 .
Reporting to the Temporary Operations Manager, this position will provide support and issue Energy isolation permit and Track allocation permit and on behalf of KEV during the construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation of the project.
The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing submitted Permit Applications for completeness or accuracy, and confirming all required supporting documentation are included from a mechanical, electrical, and health & safety perspective.
The Permit Coordinator will perform an array of data entry duties, as well as be a hands-on link between the Permit Office and Contractor field personnel.

Responsibilities
- Assist the LOTO Manager in carrying out daily duties.
- Act as LOTO manager designee when needed.
- Act as Track allocation coordinator.
- Review Permits with the Permit Receiver.
- Review Permit applications for completeness and accuracy.
- Confirm that Permits include all required supporting documents.
- Issue Permits to the Contractor.
- Provide assessments of approved Permits to confirm that Permit Receivers are operating within their permitted area and work scope.
- Consult with Temporary operations and LOTO Manager as required to resolve technical issues that may arise.
- Perform Permit Office data entry requirements and maintain records of permits.
- Provide a communications link between the Permit Office and Contractor field personnel.
- Chair Permit Meetings and attend other coordination meetings when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years previous experience in a related Permit-to-Work position.
- Prior experience working in energized installations and LOTO required.
- Familiarization with Permit-to-Work systems for energized installations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate with various project team members.
- Safety oriented with the ability to work in a collaborative and supportive manner with stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to plan work and to be well-organized.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and in maintaining systems and databases utilized for tracking purposes
- Ability to work a site based rotational schedule if not local to the area.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulatory Requirements, Construction Industry Best Practices, CSA-Z462 workplace electrical safety and Industry standard best practices for commissioning, maintenance and operation of LRT related equipment is considered an asset.
