This course explores broad social and cultural issues in education. It will address questions about how we advance knowledge, who controls how and what we learn and what role education has in how societies are shaped, changed and reproduced.

Salary :
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications :
Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field.
Prior experience in a leadership role, implementing and leading organizational level practices in equity, diversity, anti-racism, and social justice in a classroom environment, public and / or cultural communities is required.
Preferred qualifications :
Experience teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.
Preference will be given to those with demonstrated experience with classroom management, instructional delivery, and / or the application of inclusive educational leadership practices.
Ontario College of Teaching (OCT) designation or similar designation / credential will be considered an asset.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14 : 12.
Description of duties :
- All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content;
- out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments,tests and exams;
calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings; supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course.
