Responsibilities
The Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer is responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and CICS-related operation functions.
The candidate must be comfortable working with CICS (and MQ) in a 24x7 large scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment and must be able to interface with application developers and operations teams.
The CICS engineer should have strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge in CICS performance & tuning, debugging, and dump analysis.
On-call support and maintenance outside of normal working hours are needed to support the CICS environment and resolve issues.
Qualifications
Skills Required :
Knowledge of all CICS parameters that control performance in a CICSPlex environment.
Experience with SMP / E, software upgrade, and maintenance.
Familiarity with CICS SMF record structure and the CICS Performance Analyzer tool for gathering statistics to tune CICS regions.
Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing, etc.
Knowledge of the CICS resource definitions related to CICS region performance.
Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis, and performance tuning.
Experience with CICS monitoring tools such as Sysview for CICS.
Knowledge of COBOL to support application developers.
Experience with Mainframe Websphere MQ.
Good oral / written communication skills.
Skills Desired :
Assembler and COBOL coding skills, knowledge of CICS Exits.
Web application support in a CICS TS V5 environment.
Understanding of zOS facilities such as APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, Coupling Facility.
Good project management skills.
Knowledge of the CICS Interdependency Analyzer tool.
Working knowledge of zOS & CICS Explorer.
Familiarity with Natural language & Adabas.
