About the role
We’re looking for an Underwriting Support Clerk to join our growing team!
What you'll do here :
- Manage the incoming requests from our brokers and distribute work to the underwriting team according to different levels of seniority and assigned roles.
- Allocate work and correspondence to the underwriting team daily.
- Identify, search, log and distribute applications.
- Assemble and prepare output for mailing with the same day turnaround time.
- May order various underwriting reports from the computer system.
- Assist the management team with any required tasks.
- Identify problems and relevant issues, seek to resolve problems and improve work processes and share back with the team / management.
- Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously.
- Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table :
- Available to work with us full-time, 35 hours per week, for Fall 2024 Term (September to December).
- Must be returning to school in Winter 2025 or Summer 2025 following your internship.
- Understanding of the underwriting principles and practices
- Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
- Can work independently
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Keyboarding skills and knowledge of computers required
- Experience with Windows-based software programs and underwriting systems preferred
- Must be able to develop some proficiency in the use and knowledge of all computer systems related to their function
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
