Cenovus is looking for a Commercial Business Analyst within our Trading, Supply, and Logistics organization. This position will play a crucial role in driving the success of our innovative solution deliveries.
With an expertise in business analysis, commodity trading, logistics, and risk management, the successful candidate will be vital in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions.
In this role, you will act as the liaison between business collaborators and solution development teams, translating sophisticated requirements into precise system specifications.
Your deep understanding of commodities trading and logistics management will be instrumental in ensuring that our solutions meet the needs of our business.
What you’ll do :
Collect solution requirements to build test cases and user stories, ensuring traceability as required
Use HPQC and MS Teams to collaborate with multi-functional teams for documenting testing activities and supervising defects for efficient resolution
Assist in the automation of processes with an emphasis on standardization and efficiency
Support the evaluation of business and system processes, as well as data flows, to find opportunities for improvement
Document and maintain business and system processes and workflows with a high degree of accuracy, as well as support in the creation of sustainable operational reporting with a focus on data accuracy and governance
Create and maintain concise and clearly written user guides and training materials for UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and post launch
Assist with the timely and accurate entry and actualization of inventory movements within the Right Angle ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) system as required
Support system improvements based on user and development requirements and application upgrades
Who you are :
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements :
Legally authorized to work in Canada
3-5 years of experience as a business or scheduling analyst or equivalent, with a background in supporting commercial commodities and process documentation
Understanding of Canadian and US refined products and NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) transaction lifecycle, focusing on trades, nominations, scheduling, inventory, and risk management, as well as transportation modes for refined products (pipeline, rail, and truck)
Knowledge of ETRM processes across front, middle, and back-office groups within a trading organization operating under exposure and P&L (Profit and Loss) environments
Prior experience working on large-scale ETRM / SAP system implementation projects with multi-functional business and development collaborators is desirable, along with expertise in ETRM systems (most recent Right Angle version is highly preferred), SAP functionality, and experience in an agile software delivery model involving continuous collaboration
Configuration experience in ETRM / CTRM is highly sought, along with experience in handling defects using HPQC or JIRA.
Intermediate to sophisticated skills in SharePoint, and Visio, with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), SQL, R / Python, and Power BI all being considered assets
Demonstrable ability to work optimally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with tried attention to detail, shown by the ability to analyze sophisticated information, present findings clearly and concisely, and efficiently supervise and resolve system defects to ensure a timely launch
