Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies (MARZ) is seeking a skilled Technical Artist, 2D Machine Learning to collaborate in our newly created RnD department.
Your main role will be to explore and develop a machine learning workflow in compositing. You will be researching and developing based on the newest knowledge in the market, to find quick solutions and improve the efficiency of the pipeline.
Ideally, you come from a background in visual effects with knowledge of a VFX pipeline and its software’s, specifically Nuke.
You will report directly to the Head of 2D and work alongside the 2D department.
Key Responsibilities :
- Explore and develop both the new and existing machine learning tools within Nuke (e.g. Copycat).
- Consistently keeping up to date on new technologies as it pertains to the pipeline and Nuke software.
- Continuously looking for and testing ways to improve the pipeline, and its tools, efficiency using machine learning and / or other programs.
- Demonstrating all findings to the Head of 2D and preparing proposals for leadership if necessary.
- Aid with the integration of Unreal Engine into the current pipeline’s workflow.
- Assist with any further responsibilities and / or tasks that the Head of 2D requires.
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of visual effect experience.
- Knowledge of Nuke software is an asset.
- Knowledge of Compositing is an asset.
- Proficient understanding of Python, C++ and MEL.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both as a member of a team and individually.
- Must be able to take initiative and drive your own research.
- Experience with Flow Production Tracking (FTP / ShotGrid / ShotGun) Toolkit and Toolkit API.
- In depth knowledge of PyQT or PySide needed.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage your time appropriately.
- Previous experience with automation tools is an advantage.
