Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA)
President & Chief Executive Officer
The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) assumed operational control of the airport on March 31st, 2003. The Authority immediately set into motion an aggressive business plan focused on building an airport which supports the needs of its region’s residents, facilitating growth in tourism and industry, while attracting air services long considered necessary for the region’s growth.
The Prince George Airport (YXS) is part of the National Airports System (NAS). The NAS comprises 26 airports that link the country from coast to coast and internationally.
The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for working with the Board of Directors to crystallize the strategic direction of the organization and optimize resources to achieve objectives and performance requirements. The CEO will have a future vision for the airport and will ensure all planning, implementation, and operations meet current customer needs. In addition, the next leader will be responsible for identifying and building new route opportunities, seeking value wherever possible, and ultimately moving the region ahead in economic growth and development.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, inspiring, and empowering executive who has been responsible for overseeing a wide range of operational issues in a complex and regulated industry. The successful candidate will offer a proven track record building effective relationships with community stakeholders; understanding the needs of diverse customers and partners; driving innovative business development initiatives; managing and mitigating risks; and overseeing significant capital infrastructure projects. The individual will be the organizational spokesperson and will have the strategic mandate of charting the long-term future for the PGAA.
Prince George, which is home to approximately 83,000 people and is the largest city in the region of nearly 320,000 people that it serves, is a major centre of transportation, trade, post-secondary education, health, industry, tourism, and business in British Columbia. It is located at the crossroads of air, road, and rail transportation systems that link the region’s economy to national and global supply chain networks. Prince George is home to the Lheidli T’enneh Nation. The University of Northern British Columbia and College of New Caledonia are located in Prince George.
The targeted salary for this position is $200,000 – $225,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
