We’re looking for a part-time Marketing Coordinator and Communications Specialist for our small marketing team. Aventur Marketing works exclusively in the tourism and hospitality industry. Our clients include ski lodges in BC, safari outfitters in Africa and luxury resorts and tour operators in destinations around the world. Ideally, you should be based in Calgary, but another Canadian location could potentially work. This is a work-from-home position, 10-15 hrs / week to start, and you’ll need your own computer, internet and phone.
We’re looking for a team member to manage marketing workflows, create content and assist with media list building and media outreach. This is not a technical position, but you should have a solid understanding of digital marketing channels and the media landscape.
Background and Education
Marketing or communications degree / diploma. Experience working as a marketing coordinator, marketing project manager, Public Relations or communications specialist. Tourism experience preferred.
Skills
- Project management skills : Ability to create clear, concise task descriptions for other team members to follow. Experience with project management software such as Asana.
- Ability to work independently and complete projects on time, with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail : Whether it’s grammar and spelling in a blog post, or a new site design, the work we deliver must be of the highest quality and rigorously checked.
- Strategic thinking : Someone who can distill the big picture into a tactical execution.
- Excellent writing skills : We’re not looking for someone who can use Chat GPT to write content, but someone who can do research, conduct interviews, fact check, AND use AI to assist with the process.
- Public Relations : Knowledge of media and ability to write a press release or email pitch to a journalist or editor. (Note : we have good systems for this in place).
- WordPress and other CMS Experience : You should be able to do basic site updates and blog posting at a minimum.
- SEO : Basic knowledge of search engine rankings and tools.
- Analytics : Experience with Google Analytics (GA4) and reporting.
- Google / Meta Ads : Basic knowledge of these channels.
- Email marketing : Experience with acct setups, automations and creative for popular CRMs such as Active Campaign and Mailchimp.
- Tourism : Ideally, experience and a desire to work in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
Also, you will need availability to meet via Zoom, during normal business hours. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to submit work samples and references and to take a 30- 45min screening test.
Rate $25-37.00 / hour depending on experience.
