Key Account Manager

The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, ensuring their satisfaction, and driving the overall success of the company through pre-defined criteria. The KAM will utilize a problem-solving approach, advanced analytical skills, effective communication, and strong collaboration abilities to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement promotional strategies, pricing models, trade programs that maximize value for stakeholders, comprehensive account plans designed to drive sales growth, profitability, and market share. Quarter-on-Quarter Revenue growth, leveraging sales assets such as promos, merchandising
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams , including sales, marketing, and operations, to deliver seamless execution of account plans.
  • Conduct regular market analysis and merchandising activities to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics, translating insights into actionable strategies
  • Lead high-level negotiations to secure mutually beneficial agreements that align with the organizational growth objectives
  • Ensuring brand visibility to aligned standards, and compliance to agreed programs in retail stores : Aligning with Key Accounts on look of success in retail. Managing and agreeing upon promo calendars and monitoring campaign execution in retail stores.
  • Active communication with multi-level stakeholders internally and externally : Clear, timely communication on product launches, opportunities and routine servicing requirements with retail stores
  • Basic understanding of competitive landscape and offerings, enabling the KAM to offer tailored solutions to their customers
  • Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with decision-makers within key accounts, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. Routine store visits and monthly scheduled business reviews with accounts / decision makers
  • Perform other duties as required

Key Skills for this role :

  • Strong bias towards action based on data-driven insights – demonstrated competence in data analysis, presentation and sharing of insights based on available data (revenue trends, gap analysis, revenue opportunities)
  • Monitor key performance indicators, providing detailed reporting and actionable insights to senior management using tools like Netsuite and Power BI
  • Maintain full accountability for account budgets, including forecasting, planning, and achieving financial objectives
  • Ability to analyse store level revenue, SKU mix and make tailored recommendations to each account
  • Effective Communication :
  • Maintain clear, timely, and respectful communication with clients and internal teams.
  • Provide progress updates on deadlines, opportunities, and risks.
  • Communicate revenue, benefits, targets, and achievements effectively.

  • Qualifications :

  • 4–5 years of progressive experience in field sales and account management, ideally within the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry.
  • Proven ability to deliver sales growth and profitability in a fast-paced, competitive market.
  • A degree or diploma in Sales, Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in account management or a similar role.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and drive results.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget management and revenue forecasting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Effective prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and Outlook.
  • Passion and a desire to contribute to a growing, dynamic organization.
  • Working Conditions :

  • This role requires frequent travel to meet with clients.
  • Willingness to travel between provinces specifically Alberta and British Columbia
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate client needs.
