Millwork Estimator - Job description

We are currently hiring for a Millwork Estimator who demonstrates exceptional organizational capabilities, estimating skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and successfully with project stakeholders.
Our client is a North American industry leader for custom architectural millwork, casework and interior finishes and we are always looking for dynamic individuals to join our growing team.
We provide high quality millwork and interior finishes for retail, commercial, restaurant, hospitality, industrial, and multi-unit residential projects.
Duties and responsibilities :
The Millwork Estimator position reports to the Director of Business Development and plays an integral role in achieving our company’s annual sales targets.
The primary role of the Millwork Estimator is to contribute to the preparation of cost estimates and the submission of bid packages for Client projects, based on the analysis of blueprints, client-supplied drawings, vendor pricing, and collaboration with our Project Management and Production teams.
- Use online tendering systems available for the procurement of tender call drawings and bid packages, and / or perform millwork quantity take-offs from client supplied drawings or electronic files
- Evaluate projects for bid and perform millwork quantity take-offs, specialty architectural millwork take-offs, and obtain all sub-trade vendor pricing (i.
e., stone, solid surface, glass & glazing, specialty mouldings, specialty metals) required in order to submit complete bid packages
- Working within our ERP system, prepare formal Clieny quotations for a variety of project scopes and clients
- Collaborate with internal departmental teams regarding the specific types of work that should be sought, as well as the volume levels required in order to meet revenues
- Maintain client database and follow-up on outstanding quotations, placing a strong emphasis on building new client relationships and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
- Attend regular Estimating meetings to discuss upcoming tender packages, potential contract awards, and bid results
- Emphasis will be placed on the employee’s business relationship-building skills and the procurement of contracts
- Identify partnership opportunities and capitalize on sales opportunities across projects. Also, assist in the identification of strategic accounts, following up on sales leads and focusing on growing long-term relationships with clients
Qualifications include :
- Post-Secondary diploma / degree in Construction Estimating or a related field is an asset but not required
- Five years of woodworking estimating experience in the architectural millwork field considered an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
- Prior knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings / blueprints
- Woodworking / shop experience considered an asset
