Senior Backend Developer (PHP)

Description

We’re seeking a dedicated Senior Backend Developer to work within our Product Development group. You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including greenfield products, improving existing features, paying down technical debt (yup, we really do it!), and everything in between.

This role is an opportunity for you to really make a high impact and build as we enter our next phase of growth. We’re looking for someone that not only will be driving new feature development, but ensuring best practices are top of mind.

What you’ll do

Your time will be divided between new features, UI / UX improvements, repaying technical debt, and improving existing features

You'll prioritize and work on multiple projects from start to finish, balancing quality, stability and project delivery

You'll review your teammates' work, help set high standards, and look for ways to improve the overall quality of our codebase

You'll work within your team to achieve technical excellence by taking a collaborative approach to architecture, technical patterns, and complex problems

Requirements

You have 5+ years of professional experience with PHP, including PHP 8+ and the modern PHP ecosystem

You have deep experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel

You have 4+ years experience working on large scale SaaS applications (no CMS please)

You are well-versed in various design patterns and know where to apply them

You have deep experience crafting optimized RDBMS queries

You have experience leading technical discovery, architectural planning, and technical scoping on your team

You have a high bar for quality and hold yourself and your peers accountable to it

You proactively take on challenges from start to finish

You’re good at unblocking yourself and your team to keep things moving
