The London Village offers a variety of programs to meet the diverse needs of families including a Child Care Centre, Respite Program for individuals with intellectual disabilities and Adult Day Program for seniors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide input into planning and assist with the implementation of interest aged-based activities.
- Ensure that all information about children, family, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential.
- Assist with effective risk management; monitoring food safety, allergies, and facility cleanliness / maintenance; provides emergency first aid and completes reports and file incident reports as required.
- Role models’ appropriate behaviors and attitudes.
- Ensure full compliance with child protection legislation and intervene when necessary.
- Report any property damage, mechanical breakdown of equipment and / or repairs needed in the program to the Assistant Program Director, or Program Director.
- Perform other position related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
- This is a temporary full-time position to start June 26, 2024 and to end on August 30, 2024 working 40 hours per week.
- Currently scheduled Monday to Friday, from 7 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m., must be flexible to meet program needs.
- Ability to lift / move up to 50 lbs.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Submit as required a Police Record Check (vulnerable sector check) that is acceptable to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion.
- This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria :
- aged 15 to 30 years at the beginning of the employment period;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
- holds a valid Social Insurance Number; and,
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
- An ongoing condition of employment is the ability to maintain immigration status to legally remain and work in Canada which is supported by valid immigration documents.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
- Completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.
- Early Childhood Educator student preferred
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE :
Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience, including, experience working with younger children
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES :
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry may be required.
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.
e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
