The purpose of the Indigenous Relations Department is to plan, support, coordinate and advance Cultural Safety through research & development, continuous business improvement initiatives, and priorities identified by the Indigenous Advisory Committee, Leadership, or provincial mandate.

The Role :

As the Manager, Indigenous Agreements, Services & Partnerships, you will lead initiatives across the province, collaborating closely with all teams to advance CLBC's relationships with First Nations, Metis, Inuit, partners, Indigenous service providers, and urban Indigenous agencies.

This dynamic role focuses on service design and Indigenous partner engagement to support our goal of : Service Delivery to Support Cultural Safety.

The successful candidate will work with a moderate level of independence, overseeing the negotiation, development, and maintenance of Indigenous partnerships and agreements.

Duties include :

  • Establishing and sustaining effective working relationships with First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous organizations, key provincial organizations, and authorities in BC
  • Negotiating on behalf of CLBC a variety of agreements including protocol, funding, MOU and service-related agreements
  • Designing and implementing strategies aimed at raising CLBC's profile with Indigenous Partners and Service Organizations ensuring that they have a comprehensive understanding of CLBC's service model
  • Responsible for the Indigenous Services Canada file which includes liaison with MSDPR and Indigenous Services Canada
  • Leading the development of CLBC relate frameworks, policies and processes for business and partnership building with Indigenous partners
  • Mentoring and supporting team members including supporting cross team collaboration, development of a positive learning organizational culture within and across teams and building the capacity of team members to demonstrate leadership and fulfil the team's mandate
  • Providing leadership and direction to a growing team of Indigenous focused facilitators including recruitment, training, performance management, leave approvals, discipline and responding to staff grievances

Qualifications :

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field, alongside a minimum of 5 years' experience working in both the government systems and with Indigenous Peoples in the community.

A combination of education, work experience, lived experience, and relevant skills will also be considered

  • At least 1 -3 years of experience leading teams (including strong project leadership) in both the Indigenous Services Sector and the Community Living Sector
  • A deep understanding of the various jurisdictions is critical

Location This position can work from any CLBC office.

Hybrid Combines on-site office work with work-from-home flexibility.

Travel Considerable overnight travel to communities within the CLBC catchment area, as well as to the CLBC Head Office in Vancouver, is required for this role.

Possession of a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract is required.

Classification / Salary : Management Band 4 : Position starts at $100,231 to $125,289 annually
