Our clients in the manufacturing industry are in search of an enthusiastic and adaptable team member to take on the role of Accounting Analyst for a 3 month contract to start.
In this capacity, you'll play a crucial role in upholding the accuracy of our financial records and statements. Your responsibilities will entail scrutinizing general ledger accounts and conducting variance analysis.
Your duties will encompass various aspects, including the preparation of financial reports and the maintenance of accounting and financial records, covering general ledger, regulatory, and management reports.
Your collaboration with the Assistant Controller of Accounting will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our clients organization.
We are seeking an individual with a robust accounting background and a keen eye for detail to join our valued team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Executing month-end closing processes.
- Analyzing monthly variances to compare current results with those of the prior year and identifying trends.
- Identifying risks and opportunities from the analyses and making strategic recommendations.
- Reconciling assigned balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Conducting variance analysis for assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Generating periodic reports for management upon request.
- Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Assisting with both year-end and interim external audits, as well as internal audits.
- Applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and ensuring adherence to internal controls.
- Participating in and ensuring compliance with the annual inventory count, typically held in a location different from the home office.
- Resolving discrepancies or irregularities found in financial records, statements, or transactions.
- Engaging in special projects such as ERP system implementation, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Undertaking additional tasks, duties, projects, or ad hoc requests as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting.
- University Certificates that lead to a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation is an advantageous asset.
- Experience with large corporate environments.
- Experience with ERP implementations
- A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Fluency in both French and English.
- Strong technical expertise in accounting and familiarity with IFRS.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Known for being proactive, self-motivated, and resourceful, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
