Our client, a manufacturing company in Concord, is looking for a Mechanical Sercvice Technician to join their growing team.
Working location : Concord, ON
Working hours : Monday to Friday (weekend as needed)
Pay rate : $35-45 / hr
As a member of the maintenance department, the Mechanical Service Technician is responsible for the programming, debugging, installation and startup of existing or new production equipment from the perspective of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls.
Responsible for the accuracy of equipment documentation in terms of obtaining and updating preventative maintenance records, technical reference manuals, instructions and electrical schematics required to service plant equipment in a timely manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain all production and related equipment; modify existing equipment; and install new equipment / services as required.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment system faults, ensure adequate control and safety measures are working and enforced.
Enlist OEM as required.
- Key member in developing KPI’s for the maintenance team, monitoring metrics, bench marking best in class performance and working to drive continuous improvement in all actions.
- Responsible for initiating purchase orders for equipment and machinery, parts and materials for production and building requirements, and maintain critical spares and maintenance inventories.
- Provide emergency / unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Panel Saws, Edgebanders, CNC routers, CNC drilling, Table Saws, etc.)
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities or outsource as needed (Dust Collector system, air compressors, spray booths, sprinkler systems, fire equipment), both electrical and simple mechanical.
- Support maintenance and operational needs. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records (CMMS system, and ESA log book).
- Maintain, repair, test, program and install electrical motors, hydraulics, pneumatic electrical control systems, sensors, and variable frequency drives.
- Performs troubleshooting, repair and maintenance to simple control networks.
- Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and / or installations;
including budgeting, design, scheduling, and procurement.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC programming (Controllogix & Micrologix), troubleshooting and modifications.
- Able to work within a team environment.
- Perform other task as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment; previous experience in a Wood working facility is an asset.
Experience with Homag, Biesse an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpretation of schematics, both North American and European, and have a full understanding of Feedback devices, Relay logic, Electronics, PLC (Allen Bradley and Siemens), and Motor controls both VFD’s and direct drive.
- Demonstrated diagnostic trouble shooting ability.
- Mechanical, electrical / electronic experience and training.
- Pneumatic control experience.
- Experience with PLC / CNC controlled machinery.
- Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and Windows O / S.
- Excellent English communication skills verbal and in writing.
- Excellent Problem-solving skills.
- Independent and professional work ethic, flexible, highly motivated and detail oriented.
