Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer with expertise in building systems to join our clients dynamic team in Vancouver.

This role involves leading and executing mechanical design projects for a variety of building types, including commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial facilities.

As a senior team member, you will play a key role in project planning, system design, and team mentorship, while contributing to sustainable, high-performance building designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership : Lead mechanical design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across multiple projects, ensuring that all project requirements and client expectations are met.
• Design Development : Develop and oversee comprehensive mechanical design solutions, including creating detailed drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Team Mentorship : Provide guidance and technical support to junior designers and engineers, fostering growth and development within the team.
• Coordination & Collaboration : Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of building systems within overall project design.
• Quality Assurance : Perform thorough design reviews, ensuring compliance with building codes, project specifications, and quality standards.
• Field Support : Conduct site inspections, review contractor submittals, and provide hands-on support during the installation and commissioning phases to ensure successful project execution.
• Code & Compliance Management : Ensure all designs are in accordance with the latest building codes, industry standards, and client-specific requirements.
• Software Proficiency : Utilize industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation tools to produce accurate and high-quality deliverables.
• Sustainable Design : Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into mechanical design to support environmentally conscious building solutions.

Qualifications

• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience : Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience for buildings, with a strong background in leading design projects.
• Technical Skills : Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and advanced mechanical design tools; deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in building applications.
• Analytical Expertise : Strong abilities in engineering calculations, HVAC load analysis, duct and pipe sizing, and performance simulations.
• Communication & Leadership : Excellent communication skills, with experience leading design teams, managing client interactions, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Professional Certification : P.Eng. or eligibility for registration is highly desirable.
• Project Management : Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem Solving : Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a detail-oriented, solution-focused approach.
