AltaGas - Plant Operator
Location : North Pine Facility, Fort St. John, BC
Salary : $94,787 to $121,285,33 per annum based on experience. This facility also provides a bi-weekly Ticket Holder allowance, Travel Allowance, Overnight Shift Premium, and Northern Living Allowance in addition to the annual salary.
Schedule : 7 days on, 7 days off
AltaGas is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Plant Operator to join our team at our North Pine Facility, located approximately 55 km northwest of Fort St.
John, BC. This facility processes and fractionates natural gas liquids, primarily butane and propane. Reporting to the Lead Operator, the Plant Operator will assist in the daily operations, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the facility.
This facility operates on a rotational schedule of one week on, one week off, with 12-hour day and night shifts.
Preference will be given to candidates living in or willing to relocate to the Fort St. John area independently. Daily transportation is provided to and from Fort St.
John. This is not a camp-based role.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in the daily operations of the North Pine Facility, working on a 12-hour day / night shift rotation.
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility, adhering to all safety standards and company policies.
Support scheduled and unscheduled operations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Participate in facility commissioning, turnaround planning, and start-up processes.
Adhere to all AltaGas policies, standards, procedures, and practices to ensure smooth plant production and reliability.
Assess risks and consult with senior personnel before taking action to ensure proper risk management.
Report and investigate safety incidents at the facility, ensuring quick resolution and prevention of future incidents.
Assist in the updating and development of operating procedures to improve facility processes.
Participate in safety-focused activities such as critical job checklists, job hazard assessments, and safe work permitting.
Engage in Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) meetings and inspections to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certification required; preference will be given to candidates with a 3rd Class Power Engineering certification.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in facility or pipeline operations.
Experience in gas plant operations and power generation is considered an asset.
Ability to quickly identify and respond to operational deviations to maintain safe working conditions and minimize downtime.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Strong understanding of environmental impacts, health, safety, and security risks associated with plant operations.
Where You'll Work :
The North Pine Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Facility is located approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Fort St. John, British Columbia.
The 20,000 Bbls / d facility is connected to existing AltaGas infrastructure. The facilityfractionates NGL feed into end products of Propane, Butane, and Condensate.
The North Pine Facility is connected to the Canadian National Railway rail network, allowing for the transportation of propane, butane, and condensate to North American markets.
This includes shipping propane to AltaGas’ Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal (RIPET), on Ridley Island, BC.
