Job description
Reporting to the Director of Pre-Constructive Services, this position is responsible for the management and overall outcome of the project assigned by ensuring that it conforms to the design, the budget, and the schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams on multiple projects to ensure it is completed within budget and is finished with respecting deadlines.
- Work closely and assist the Directors for all departments to bridge communication gaps.
- Assist in developing project bidding strategy with project departments.
- Manage staff in preparing work scopes for trades.
- Support team with contract negotiations.
- Review and assist teams with all monthly project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, and financial reports.
- Support team to ensure project draws and trade billings are being submitted and paid on time.
Competencies
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and ability to implement safety procedures with employees
- Knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, budgets, safety regulations, and current construction procedures High level of expertise in the local planning and development approval process
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), Outlook, and MS Project
- Working knowledge of Procore or other project management software
- Capable of accurately understand stakeholder needs and ability to assume responsibility and communicate effectively with them throughout the project
- Ability to predict problems in the project and implement short-term and long-term solutions
- Ability to foresee complications in the project timeline and create new solutions in the plan and schedule Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade others
- Experience with interviewing and hiring new team members as well as motivating, coaching, and mentoring a diverse team
- Organized with excellent time management skills and proven ability for meeting project schedules and staying within budget
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Experience
- Post-secondary degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Engineering or technical diploma in Architecture or Civil Engineering
- 10+ years experience with complex construction projects with a focus on high rise residential developments
- 8+ years project experience in the GTA market
