POSITION SUMMARY :
Are you a skilled mechanic with experience in both traditional and cutting-edge technologies, or an aspiring apprentice eager to grow?
Join MCI as a Field Service Technician, where you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our diverse fleet.
You will ensure that our buses, from diesel engines to electric drivetrains, operate at their peak performance.
In addition to your mechanical expertise, you'll take on the role of Field Service Technician, providing essential on-site support across various locations in Canada and the US.
This dynamic, customer-facing position involves troubleshooting, repairing equipment, completing retrofits, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service.
You will work closely with teams from both MCI and New Flyer, enhancing operational efficiency and fostering strong customer relations.
This position requires travel to Fort McMurray on a regular basis.
WHAT YOU WILL DO :
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and electric drivetrains.
- Perform drive line component maintenance, including transmissions and differentials.
- Maintain and repair engine and body accessories, including HVAC systems and suspension components.
- Conduct thorough inspections and repairs of braking systems and electrical systems.
- Perform installations and repairs of seating, steering components, and glass.
- Investigate, identify, and report product issues, including with supplier components.
- Recommend course of action to solve problems with respective departments.
- Assists with controlled testing of components and installations as asked by Management, TSS or Engineering groups.
- Stay up to date with training on pertinent systems in our vehicle to perform top level OEM support of any coach or vendor components.
- Identify and provide suggestions on how to improve the information in technical bulletins, Maintenance, and any other Tech publications.
- Resolve customer problems or complaints effectively and in a timely manner for mutual customer and our company’s benefit.
- Work special assignments as required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :
Technical Expertise : Experience with diesel engines, driveline components, electrical systems, and electric vehicle maintenance.
Familiarity with diagnostic devices such as DDEC, ATEC readers, and equipment diagnostics (e.g., Cummins Insite, DDDL, Allison DOC, Wabco Toolbox, Bendix ACOM).
- Tool Proficiency : Proficiency with shop tools, diagnostic devices, and equipment for assembly and repairs.
- Travel Requirement : Willingness to travel 50% of the time, with a valid passport required.
- Safety and Precision : Strong understanding of safety practices and effective use of personal protective equipment.
