School Administrative Assistants

The School Administrative Assistant provides a welcoming atmosphere as the first point of contact. They are also responsible for providing general information and assistance to staff, parents, and the public in a professional and courteous manner, and provide administrative support to the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
One year Community college certificate / diploma in a related field
Six months of recent related experience
SKILLS REQUIRED
Proficiency in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheet software, email, Internet
Strong customer service skills
Ability to effectively communicate and relate to people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times is essential
Motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
Excellent discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to provide accuracy and attention to detail
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
Frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand; twist at neck and waist
Ability to report to work on short notice at various locations
Working knowledge of Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) - Training will be provided
ADDITONAL INFORMATION
The salary is $29.60 per hour. This position works on an as needed basis during the ten-month calendar school year.
Our board is committed to providing safe environments for our students and staff. Should you receive an offer of employment you will be required to submit an acceptable Police Record Vulnerable Sector Check and complete the Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps Training (on-line) prior to the commencement of any employment duties.
