Apprentice Powerline Technician - Distribution & Transmission

Forbes Bros Ltd. is looking for multiple Apprentice Powerline Technician - Distribution & Transmission (full-time, permanent) of all levels for projects within the Edmonton region.

This position will be joining our growing team based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

The Apprentice Powerline Technician - Distribution & Transmission (full-time, permanent) will have a recognized Blue Book.

The candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of powerline construction, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities :

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair high and low voltage transmission and distribution electrical grid.
• Troubleshoot and repair overhead distribution and transmission lines.
• Install, inspect, maintain, repair and modify high and low voltage transmission and distribution electrical grid.
• Maintain interior, exterior, overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Install and maintain cables making part of power distribution systems.
• Will implement safety policies, transporting materials, installing electrical transmission systems, performing repair work, and laying underground cable in trenches.
• Assist in the construction, maintenance and removal of underground and overhead power lines and equipment.
• Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations;
• Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned

Candidate Requirements :

• Provincially recognized Blue Book, is required
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required
• Experience working as an apprentice in the trade, preferred knowledge of distribution and transmissions systems
• Willing to learn to interpret site plans, construction drawings.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to take and / or provide direction
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member while equally motivated working independently
• Able and willing to travel to required remote project sites and work extended periods of time and overtime and / or weekend hours as needed
• Able and willing to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting and working at various heights and confined spaces
• Able and willing to provide five (5) year acceptable drivers abstract
• As per client requirements, candidates may be required and willing to undergo pre-access screening
