Our Yonge North Subway Extension Office is looking to hire a Senior Project Manager, reporting into the Technical Director.
This position will be responsible to ensure the overall YNSE project achieves all the benefits and meets the requirements set by the Sponsors.
This includes ensuring there are no gaps or duplications between construction contracts which will be crucial to de-risk the overall project delivery.
What will I be doing?
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight to project activities to ensure coordination of activities and successful overall project execution.
- Manages Project wide processes, initiatives, and strategies.
- Manages Project interfaces between multiple construction contracts.
- Manages overall project scope, including ensuring proper documentation and implementation of decision made through the project governance in the appropriate construction documents.
- Acts as a one window to the project delivery team on all Transit Oriented Community and adjacent development interactions.
- Oversees the review and traceability of multiple contract documents to ensure there are no gaps and identify potential issues and risks, including technical and commercial matters.
- Oversees the management of Third-party scope processes such as stakeholder scope request process, resource agreements, stakeholder reporting, distribution of submittals, managing stakeholder meetings and reporting.
- Prepares presentations to executives.
- Builds strong relationships with Business Partners and stakeholders and ensures all conditions are implemented in the project contract documents.
- Participates in, and provides advice and input to, activities related to project scope, definition, risk management, budget, schedule, safety, and quality assurance.
- Works collaboratively with Metrolinx’s other business units, operational divisions and various internal stakeholders and communicates effectively with agencies, utility companies and other external stakeholders to define requirements, develop project implementation plans and monitor compliance.
- Prepares any required processes to facilitate the interaction of the many teams to ensure consistency and accountability to the Project Director.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a degree in Engineering or Architecture, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrates experience in progressive project management and implementation, including experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects, preferably for passenger rail transit, underground and at-grade stations, storage and maintenance facilities, and related works.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and management skills to manage and motivate a team / unit as well as cross functional teams and set high standards and clear expectations.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence other work streams in a collaborative matter.
- Experience working with infrastructure integration to adjacent development is required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is strongly desired and Professional Engineer Ontario ( or a license in good standing with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is considered an asset.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and apply specifications, contracts, design documents, test plans and co-ordinate contracted technical projects.
- Advanced knowledge of project management and change management practices; including work planning, monitoring, and evaluation expertise, to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
